Sgt Edward B. Orr graduated from Beaverhead County High School and was engaged in ranching. He enlisted in Fort Douglas, Utah on 18 April 1944.He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously. The citation cited: In attacking Beaumarais the second platoon of Company K, was held up only 75 yards from the first house in the village by intense machine gun and mortar fire. Without regard for his own safety, Sgt Orr ran through the deadly fire to destroy one of the machine gun nests with hand grenades. Pressing on boldly into the German positions, he knocked out a second machine gun position.
