Pfc Verne Judd graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1935 and attended Santa Monica Junior College. He was employed at the Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica.

He enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 19 November 1942. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied engineering at the Michigan School of Mining and Technology in Houghton, Michigan. When the program was discontinued he was transferred to the infantry and trained at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He was sent overseas in November 1944.

Pfc Verne Judd died from wounds sustained on 7 January 1945.
