Pfc Thomas J. Grady was employed at Roller Bearing Company. He enlisted in Camden, New Jersey on 11 December 1942.

He was shot down by the enemy while attempting to make a single-handed attack on a German machine gun nest in an effort to save his comrades from annihilation at the hands of the foe.
