Pvt William A. Gibson attended high school for 1 year and was a mechanic.He enlisted in Fort McPherson Atlanta, Georgia on 27 May 1944. He joined his unit in the same month of his death.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
His brother Maurice is listed at the Walls of the Missing at Manilla American Cemetery. He was serving on the escort carrier Gambier Bay that was sunk on 24 October 1944. Another brother, Forrest, was stationed at Camp Wheeler, Georgia at the time of William's death.
