Pvt William H. Heiser Jr. enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 28 September 1942. He was sent overseas in August 1944 and was wounded in action in France, hospitalized in England and returned to active duty in Frebruary 1945. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart a first time.
