Capt Loren L. Stanton graduated from Cambridge High School in Nebraska and attended college. He was the rector of the St. John’s Episcopal Church before he volunteered for the Army of the United States on 3 March 1943.He was sent overseas in September 1944.

When crossing the Rhine river, the boat with Chaplain Stanton and several medics on board capsized. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions on that day.
