More information

2nd Lt Earl A. Mac Dougall attended college before he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Boston, Massachusetts, on 23 June 1942.

2nd Lt James L. Mumaw:
"I was flying as a pilot on ship #355 in 21 dog box position. My attention was attracted to Red U at the time bombs were away and we had started to rally right. Red U almost directly received a flak hit on the Co-Pilot’s side and it was pretty well torn up. The ship was still under control but about twenty five feet to the rear of its position. This put it just a little ahead of my left wing. When I glanced at the ship I noticed bombs falling through the formation and two of these were reported to have hit the left wing of Red U. The plane then fell out of formation still evidently under control".

S/Sgt Ruehl L. Asbridge:
"He was beaten to dead by civilians."
