S/Sgt Paul Poole was a farmer.

He enlisted in Baltimore, Maryland on 6 May 1941.

He was lightly wounded in action on 9 June 1944 and on 1 August 1944. He was promoted to S/Sgt on 11 November 1944.

On 20 December 1944, he was taken prisoner and transported to a German army hospital in Knechtsteden with a stomach wound, caused by a shell splinter, where he died the same day.

He was initially buried at the community cemetery of Straberg, Germany and reburied in a temporary grave at Margraten Cemetery on 30 March 1945.

His brother Warner was killed in action on 7 June 1945 in the Pacific and is buried at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. His brother Samuel served in France and was seriously wounded in action on 23 June 1944. His brother George E. Poole served in North Africa.
