The citation for his Silver Star stated:'When the progress of his company was being seriously impeded by withering enemy machine gun fire, Pfc Nunn, seizing an automatic rifle from a fallen comrede, vanced on the well-emplaced machine gun nest, firing the rifle in continuous blasts. His heroic stratagem forced the hostile gun crew to abandon its position and withdraw to a nearbu house whe the company captured eight of them.
