S/Sgt Robert G. Martinson attended high school for four years and was a railroad clerk.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Missoula, Montana on 14 December 1941.
The aircraft was attacked by fighters. It was seen with #1 engine on fire and flames spreading to the cockpit. I went down in a slow roll. Nine crew members were killed, one survived and was taken prisoner.
