2nd Lt Lloyd M. Merritt graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and was a chauffeur.

He enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, on 19 June 1941 and arrived overseas in June 1944.

He grew up using his middle name, Max.

On 10 January 1945, 2nd Platoon lost two tanks by enemy fire. four men were killed. 2nd Lt Merritt is buried at Henri-Chapelle, while T/4 Arnold Pfaff and Sgt Daniel Liptrap are listed on the Tablets of the Missing at Ardennes Cemetery.
