Daniel Liptrap joined the Regular Army on 28 September 1939.The 2nd Platoon of B Company lost two tanks by enemy fire that day. Four men were killed. Three are listed on the Tablets of the Missing at Ardennes Cemetery: Pfc Ralph M. Hammond, T/4 Arnold A. Pfaff and Sgt Daniel P. Liptrap. The platoon commander, 2nd Lt Lloyd M. Merrit is buried at Henri-Chapelle Cemetery.
