Pfc Robert U. K. Jenkins graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was employed by the E.I. du Pont de Nemours Company in Waynesboro.He enlisted on 25 February 1943 in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was sent overseas in August 1943 and was promoted to Private First Class on 17 October 1944.
On 24 November 1944 he was operating a field telephone switchboard near Aldenhaven, Germany when the area took a direct hit by an enemy shell.
