1st Lt William L. Bonnett graduated from the Polytechnic Preparatory Country Day School and from Amherst College in 1942.He was married to Julia Fairman in April 1943.
He enlisted in July 1942 in Brooklyn, New York and was selected for officers training and was commissioned in the Field Artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After receiving flying training, he was attached to the 84th Infantry Division as a liaison pilot and was promoted to first lieutenant. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
He died in a plane crash.
