Pvt William J. Stanley enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 4 May 1943.He was a motorman before he enlisted.
On 30 November 1944, he crawled behind enemy lines and dragged a wounded comrade to safety. For this action he was awarded the Silver Star Medal. He was killed by sniper fire.
