Cpl. Rudy J. Ilic worked for Oldsmobile and had been a resourceful and dynamic member of the U.A.W-C.I.O. since 1936. In 1937 he was elected chief steward at the Olds Motor Works in Lansing. He became a member of the bargaining committee in 1938, and in 1939 was elected chairman of the plant committee. As an International representative for region 1D in 1941 and as staff member of the Union's GM Department from 1942 until he enlisted in November of 1943. Ilic did outstanding work for the membership of the UAW.
