More information

Sgt Ludvick L. Pytel was in the Civilian Conversation Corps (CCC).

He joined the Regular Army on 13 October 1939.

Sgt Pytle was killed during Operation Reservist. Two Royal Navy Sloops were to enter the harbor of Oran to capture the harbor facilities and the Vichy French ships before they could be destroyed. On board the sloops were 393 men of the 3rd Battalion of the 6th Armored Infantry Regiment. 189 men were killed in action, 157 were wounded. All survivors were taken prisoner and the attack could not prevent that the harbor facilities were destroyed.

At the request of his family, Sgt Ludvick Pytel is buried next to his brother, Pfc John J. Pytel.
