John L. Caporaso worked as a laboratory technician before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 8 March 1944.He joined his unit from a replacement depot on 9 October 1944. He was lightly wounded in action on 18 October 1944 but remained on duty and was promoted from Private to Sergeant on 24 October 1944.
