S/Sgt Joseph A. Sparrow was a miner before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 9 March 1942. He was sent overseas in May 1944.He was killed by small arms fire to his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
