Pfc Roy V. Donnelly enlisted at Fort Dix, New Jersey on 13 March 1942.He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as a Medical Aidman with the 23rd Armored Infantry Division, 7th Armored Division, in action in France, on 24 August 1944. Pfc Donnelly's gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
