Pvt Napoleon Black enlisted at Fort Custer, Michigan on 16 February 1942.

Napoleon Black was reported missing in action on 4 January 1945. He was believed to have fallen into a deep mine shaft near the factory where the unit was stationed in at Eschweiler, Germany. Poisonous gas coming from the shaft made it impossible to conduct further investigations. He was officially declared dead on 29 August 1946.
