His remains have been recovered and buried at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.Statement from Donald E. King, 1st Lt., Air Corps:
"I, the undersigned, was pilot of Aircraft flying No. #3 position in 2nd element of flight in which Aircraft No. 24206 was flying No. #2 position in 3rd element. I saw A/C No. 24206 hit by flak, just after turning from IZ at 1439 hours, make a steep hank hit the ground and explode. I saw four (4) parachutes leave the plane and open".
