T/5 Wyley J. Honea attended Commercial High School and worked as a messenger boy for the Postal Telegraph.

He joined the Regular Army at Fort Benning, Georgia on 27 July 1940. He was a veteran of the North African, Sicilian and Italian campaigns.

He was killed by a sniper.

T/5 Honea is remembered at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.
