Donald Glogau graduated from Topeka High School in 1936 and attended Washburn College in Topeka, Kansas. He was employed as assistant purchasing manager for Kansas Power & Light Company.Lt Glogau was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumouslyp) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 1 December 1944. When his platoon was halted and pinned down by fire from an enemy machine gun, 1st Lt Glogau rose to his feet in the face of direct fire and alone stormed the hostile position. As he turned to signal his men to follow him, he was mortally wounded. Struggling the last few yards forward, he hurled a grenade, silencing the weapon and stunning the crew. 1st Lt Glogau's intrepid actions, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 8th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
