Pfc Alton J. Plaine, 31-year old son, was killed in action in Germany on 24 March 1945, a War Department telegram notified his parents. He was understood to have been serving with a tank division at the time of his death. Formerly employed by S.W. Barrick and Son, LeGore, Pfc Plaine was inducted into the Army on 25 March 1941 at Baltimore, Maryland, was stationed in Virginia at the Station Hospital at Fort Monroe before being transferred to Fort Knox. Ky., and later to a training post in California. He has been overseas for about a year.
