In the New Castle, Pennsylvania, News, Ellwood City News, dated 27 November 1940, Private First Class Walter Veza (Wyza) is mentioned as alternate for two of his citymembers to go to Pittsburgh for their enlistment. Less than two months later he did go after all, as volunteer.
Pfc Walter Veza enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 23 January 1941.
