Pfc Charles M. Stoneman at the Scioto Ordnance Plant before he enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 9 December 1942.On 19 December 1944 while he was in the mess hall, the German Lufwaffe attacked the area were the 309th Engineers were camped out. A bomb hit the mess hall, killing and wounding an unknown number of men, including Pfc Stoneman.
His brother James served in the South Pacific.
