Cpl Raymond J. Ballone graduated from Radnor High School and was employed by the Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company at Chester.He enlisted in January 1943.
The first platoon jumped off in attack at 0545 hrs from Niemberg in support of the 3rd Bn, 415th Infantry, taking the objective at Kitzendorf at 0730 hrs. at 1500 they were relieved from support of the 3rd Bn and joined TFL of the 415th Infantry in guarding the regiments north flank in the vicinity of Neidelon. At the end of the period they were engaged in a fire fight in vicinity of (090460), engaging an approximate 60 to 100 dug-in Infantry. No armor or heavy artillery was being employed by the enemy but heavy small arms fire was received. Cpl. Ballone was killed in this action.
