Pfc William Vesko graduate from Olyphant High School and attended Mansfield State Teachers College before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 25 February 1941.

After basic training at Kelly and Randolph Fields, Texas, he studied the Japanese language for six months at the University of Chicago.

During his training he volunteered for the Air Corps but was later transferred to the Infantry.

He died of injuries, sustained in a vehicle accident.
