Leighton Hollon worked for the State Highway Department.

He enlisted on 23 July 1942 and trained at Southwark Station, Pennsylvania, Camp Davis, North Carolina, Camp Haan, California, Camp Howze, Taxeas and Fort Meade, Maryland from where he was sent overseas on 22 March 1945.
