Pfc Everett E. Edgerly attended Dowagiac Union High School and was engaged in farming.

He enlisted on 2 May 1944.

Per a letter from Maj Gen Lunsford E. Oliver, commanding general of the 5th Armored Division" "Pfc Edgerly was killed in action against the enemy on 9 April 1945. Death was caused by sniper fire. His body was evacuated to the U.S. military cemetery in Margraten, Holland for internment. The burial service was read by a chaplain of the Protestant faith."

His son, Pfc John W. Edgerly, was killed in 1966 while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Quang Tin Province, Vietnam.
