Pvt Fred M. Shilling graduated from Lewistown High School in 1943.He enlisted in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 28 August 1943. He was sent overseas in August 1944.
Pvt Shilling was taken prisoner on 21 September 1944 in vicinity of Sillegny or Arry, France. He was helt captive at Stalag II-A where he died of diphtheria and pneumonia.
