Pfc Rudolph Tezak enlisted in Phoenix, Arizona, on 10 July 1943.

He was was killed when he went to the aid of a wounded man in a city square exposed to enemy fire. For his extreme sacrifice Pfc. Tezak was posthumously awarded the Silver Star Medal

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
