Pvt Whitney Miller attended Colgate University for one year and was a clerk general officeHe enlisted in New York City, New York on 14 April 1941.
He was awarded the Silver Star and according to his citation, carried radio equipment across an open field to a forward station. He was wounded in transit but kept moving forward until he was hit again, this time fatally. His heroism made possible the recovery of badly needed radio equipment.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Limey, France.
