More information

1st Lt Joseph Osborn attended college was a credit man before he enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 27 March 1941.

C Company, though still under heavy fire, battled its way to the woods as the enemy fell back to the top of the ridge. With machine guns, bazookas, and hand grenades they managed to drive the enemy from the ridge and back into the town. While attempting to reach the ridge, Lt Joe Osborn was hit by small arms fire and mortally wounded. Evacuation was difficult, so it was some time before he got to the aid station. He was evacuated further back to another station where he died of his wounds.
