T/5 Joseph Mandit was a production worker before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 8 February 1942.T/5 Mandit was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his actions on 23 May 1944 in Italy.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his arm and back.
