Pvt Raymond O. Brewer worked on a farm before he enlisted at Camp Shelby, Mississippi on 24 March 1944.He was taken prisoner of war and died of a shell-splinter wound in the stomach in the German Feldlazarett N° 27566, that was stationed in the vicnity of Landau in der Pfalz, Germany. According to German records, Pvt Brewer died on 17 January 1945 at 14.30 hrs. He was initially buried at the Garrison Cemetery of Landau in der Pfalz on 22 January 1945.
He is remembered at the Lowry Cemetery in Big Sandy, Benton County, Tennessee.
