Pfc Joseph J. Bienlein attended high school for four years and was a general industry clerk before he enlisted at Fort Jay, Governors Island, New York on 26 September 1942. He was sent overseas in October 1944.He was killed by a sniper, while giving aid to one of the wounded men.
