Pfc Donald L. Vesper attended Lancaster High School where he played baseball and football, was a member of the Activities Club and he was the vice-president of the Sophomore Class. After graduating he became a member of Block “L”, a school organization for athletes who have carried the school colors to many glorious victories. He then attended Syracuse University.

His father was a WWI veteran who served from 15 February 1916 till his discharge on 31 March 1919.
