Pfc Wallace V. Penton was employed at Roy Axton before he enlisted on 12 June 1944. He was sent overseas in July 1944.

He was officially declared dead one day and one year after he was reported missing in action. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Oberhoffen, France.

He is mentioned on a monument at the Macon County Missouri Courthouse.
