2nd Lt Alexander R. Carr was a waiter before he enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida on 18 March 1942. He gradudated from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Knox, Kentucky on 28 August 1942 and was sent overseas on 2 September 1943.2nd Lt Carr was declared officially death one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.
The 784th Tank Battalion was a unit with African American enlisted men and white officers.
