More information

Pfc Kenneth H. Wright enlisted in Utica, New York on 26 May 1943. He received his training at Fort Bliss, Texas, Camp Cooke, California, Ontario Air Field and Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He was sent overseas in November 1944.

During the spring of 1944, the 304th Infantry Regiment was still in the USA and was composed of sharply trained men. Most of these men were transferred to other regiments that headed to England in preparation of the Normandy invasion. To fill their places came men released from the Army Specialized Training Program, the Air Corps, the Coast Artillery and Anti-Aircraft units. This explains the picture where Pfc Wright is wearing the patch of the Anti-Aircraft Command.
