Pfc John J. Schulke enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 29 January 1943. He served in the Army Air Corps and was then transferred to an A.S.T.P. unit at Newark College of Engineers. He was transferred to an infantry unit and sent overseas in November 1944.
