More information

Pvt Mc Caslin attended Southeastern Junior High School and Central High School.

He enlisted in Berrien Springs in August 1943 and was sent overseas in September 1944.

In his last letter to his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Williams, written on 5 December 1944, he wrote: "The reason you don't get many letters from me is that I don't have time to write, for we are busy fighting a war. I am now somewhere in Germany. It isn't so bad. The only hard work we have to keep out of the way of German shells, but they are not too bad for we have it easy when you think of the doughboys and what they have to go through. Half of us sleep while the others are at the guns. It isn't bad, but I sure wish this thing was over. I'll be seeing you soon, I hope."
