More information

Pvt Kermit D. Kuhn graduated from Bayard High School where he was captain of the basketball and baseball teams and won the Bayard High School Athletic Award for his sportsmanship and athletic ability.

He was a motorman before he joined the Regular Army on 20 June 1940 and was sent overseas in September 1944.

In January 1945, Pvt Kuhn was awarded the Bronze Star for an heroic act of administering first aid while under enemy fire to ten men who would have died without receiving it.

In January 1952, Cpl Tony Scripp Jr., stationed with the U.S. Air Force in England, visited the grave of his uncle, together with Mrs. Mia Dings of Susteren. Mrs. Dings adopted the grave shortly after Pvt Kuhn was buried and visited it on a regular basis. She kept in touch with the Kuhn Family.
