Pfc Carl E. King graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in Nashville. He was employed as the advertising foreman in the composing room of The Tennessean for six years before going to Washington. He worked on the Washington Post for 12 years.He enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland on 18 March 1944 and took heavy field artillery training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He went overseas in November 1944.
