Pfc Alfred F. Kaceraukas' parents were immigrants from Lithuania.

He graduated from Lexington High School in 1941 and was employed as a welder at the Boston Navy Yard, before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 6 April 1944. He was overseas for about a month when he was killed.
