Pfc Lawrence T. Whitehair graduated from Aurora High School with the class of 1939He enlisted at Fort Hayes, Ohio on 19 March 1942. He first saw action on north Africa, sicily and Italy. His unit was then sent to Ireland for a rest period and returned to active duty and refitting before it took part in the D-Day invasion.
On October 2, the 325th attacked the Mook plains until they reached the hamlet at Katerbosch. The fog that had concealed them was lifting and they were in the open without cover. Heavy losses ensued. The men dug in and were in the area for several days.
Pfc Lawrence T. Whitehair first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
