T/5 Nordby attended the grade school in district 120. Before going into the army, he worked on the farm of his stepfather, John Brekke, at Oakland. He had been overseas since Septembr of 1943 and was sent from England to France the latter part of June, 1944. He fought with the First army through France, Belgium and then into Germany.
