T/4 Anthony J. Nicholson graduated from Bisbee High School and was a miner and mining-machine operator at the Shattuck and Denn Mines before he enlisted in Phoenix, Arizona on 10 October 1942.He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: For meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy on 13 December 1944. Acting as medical aid man, T/4 Nicholson under incessant enemy fire performed bravely and courageously in aiding the wounded. With utter disregard for his personal safety, he entered a mine field to administer aid to a casualty only to be injured himself by an exploding mine and later killed by enemy artillery. T/4 Nicholson's disregard for his personal safety in the performance of meritorious service is in accordance with the highest military traditions.
